By Rev. Nicholas Sybrowsky
Opening Word & Reading for Worship:
Come let us sing to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. ~Psalm 95:1, 2 (NIV)
He Deliver’s Hope | Our Future is Anchored in the Blessed Hope
Intro:
Because the Lord Jesus Christ was Fully God, His blood & righteousness deliver us from bondage and His Spirit empowers us with hope. An oversimplified version of this may sound like, He Delivers Hope.
One month ago, and last week, in the Mission Implausible sermon series we expounded upon some Wonders & Miracles performed by Jesus the Christ our Lord Fully God. These are proofs of His Deity. These qualify Him as God in the flesh. Or as the author of Hebrews describes, the "express image" of God regarding His Exaltation.
"(3) Who being the brightness of [his] glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;" ~Hebrews 1:3 (KJV)
Let's quickly recap the message from March 17th, His Miracles.
We examined His main physical objective of Sacrificial Death. Jesus said, “These and even greater works” We also touched on His Eternal-existence. AKA Pre & Post Existence.
- [He] was Human Like You and Me.
- Even Muslims know OF Jesus the Christ [from within their religious traditions].
- John Baptized with water & Jesus Baptized with Holy Spirit. Two very distinct ministries with symbiotic purposes.
- Too Many Miracles to count. I like the way John said this in his gospel. After he shared two ideas, the idea of 'The Love Motivation" and "Our Time is in His Hand" John closes with this in John 21:25 "(25) And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen." (Jhn 21:25 KJV)
- And in last week’s message More Jesus More Miracles the introduction to this sermon series (Available on YouTube@AGTV.com written form coming soon) we examined the miracle of the two Demon possessed men from Gadara delivered from bondage. In the accounts of (Mat 8:28-34, Luk 8:35-39, Mar 5:3-13).
- Additionally we started an introduction to the 13th Doctrine of the Assemblies of God Statement of Fundamental Truths: Our Future is Anchored in the Blessed Hope *one of our four core doctrines. We examined the following passages in relation to Deliverance from Bondage Romans 8:23 Where Paul describes life in the Spirit and the glory that is to be:
"(23) And not only [they], but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, [to wit], the redemption of our body." (Rom 8:23 KJV)
With some emphasis on the difficulty in communication as we wait: Groaning and yearning for the coming redemption and adoption. Groaning not Growling. 😊
Let’s briefly return to look again at this Legion or rather a Host of evil within the man from Gadara in Mark who was...
1. Delivered from Bondage.
Even they [the Demons] feared Jesus as the man bowed (strength from within). Let's look at Mark 5:3-8.
"(3) This man lived among the burial caves and could no longer be restrained, even with a chain. (4) Whenever he was put into chains and shackles--as he often was--he snapped the chains from his wrists and smashed the shackles. No one was strong enough to subdue him. (5) Day and night he wandered among the burial caves and in the hills, howling and cutting himself with sharp stones. (6) When Jesus was still some distance away, the man saw him, ran to meet him, and bowed low before him. (7) With a shriek, he screamed, "Why are you interfering with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? In the name of God, I beg you, don't torture me!" (8) For Jesus had already said to the spirit, "Come out of the man, you evil spirit."" (Mar 5:3-8 NLT)
(6) When Jesus was still some distance away, the man saw him, ran to meet him, and bowed low before him.
To me this is an example of Jesus meeting us where we are at. He sees the heart of the matter and steps into the gap to provide us protection. In this case He provided deliverance and healing.
Why did the man run to him and bow down?
The Evangelical Prophet, Isaiah indicates that it is because of “God’s Supreme Power”. In Isa. 45. We pick up at verse…
"(22) Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I [am] God, and [there is] none else. (23) I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth [in] righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear. (24) Surely, shall [one] say, in the LORD have I righteousness and strength: [even] to him shall [men] come; and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed. (25) In the LORD shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory." (Isa 45:22-25 KJV)
Emphasis on verse :23…That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.
The Apostle Paul refers to this passage from Isaiah in his response regarding clean foods, judging one another, causing a brother to stumble in Romans 14:10. Paul puts emphasis on the higher priority of focus. He opens chapter 14 with:
“Welcome him who is weak in faith, but not for the purpose of arguing over opinions.” Romans 14:1 (MEV)
The KJV renders this as “not to judge his doubtful thoughts”.
In verse 14:10 So why do you judge your brother? Or why do you despise your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. 11 For it is written: “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, and every tongue shall confess to God.”
Instead of Paul pushing & validating them to judge each other harshly (especially those weak in faith or young in the faith), Paul encourages them to Brotherly Love and Principles of each person being responsible for their own conscience (ethics, integrity & practices). He encourages us in these passages to be unified in the love for Christ Jesus and to avoid causing another to stumble. He then goes on to encourage believers to seek to please others instead of ourselves. Loving others is like the first commandment.
This kneeling confession is referenced by Paul again in his epistle to the local church in Philippi.
"(10) That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth;" (Phl 2:10 KJV)
What’s going on here?
Paul encourages Christian Humility and [describes] Christ’s Humility
"(1) If [there be] therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, (2) Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, [being] of one accord, of one mind. (3) [Let] nothing [be done] through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. (4) Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. (5) Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: (6) Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: (7) But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: (8) And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. (9) Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: (10) That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth; (11) And [that] every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (12) Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. (13) For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of [his] good pleasure. (14) Do all things without murmurings and disputings:" (Phl 2:1-14 KJV)
Like this man influenced by an Army of evil…
Our Future is Anchored in the Blessed Hope
"All Christians who have died will on day rise from their graves and will meet the Lord in the air. Christians who have not yet died will be raptured or caught up with them, to be with the Lord. Then Christians of all ages will live with God forever. The scriptural truth of the Lord's soon return is "the Blessed Hope" (Romans 8:23; 1 Cor. 15:51-52; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Titus 2:13)" ~Assemblies of God 13th Doctrine Gospel Publishing House®
The Promised Reception. Open your Bibles to 2 Cor. 7. Now let’s turn to 1 Cor.15:51.
2. The Fact of Christ's Resurrection, The Order of Resurrection & The Mystery of Resurrection.
"(51) Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, (52) In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed." (1Co 15:51-52 KJV)
Wow! We need some context. In Chapter 15 in this epistle to the church at Corinth. Paul solidifies that the Resurrection of Christ as a FACT to remind them of the Gospel he first preached to them and they had accepted. Then he describes the order of Resurrection of those who physically lived on earth before the Virgin Birth of The Lord Jesus Christ. He closes this section of the letter with clarification in the mystery of resurrection.
"A Spiritual seed (Heb 11:18, 1Pe 1:23, 1Jo 3:9 & Rev 12:17)from God….What has come is “49…man of heaven.” What will come is Hos. 13:14 fulfillment.1. Israel = "God prevails"A. the second name for Jacob given to him by God after his wrestling with the angel at PenielB. the name of the descendants and the nation of the descendants of Jacobi. the name of the nation until the death of Solomon and the splitii. the name used and given to the northern kingdom consisting of the 10 tribes under Jeroboam; the southern kingdom was known as Judahiii. the name of the nation after the return from exile ~(The KJV translates Strong's H3478 in the following manner: Israel (2,489x), Israelites (16x)."
"(12) For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." (Heb 4:12 KJV)
"(28) And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." (Mat 10:28 KJV)
The few Next weeks' plan is to continue in this new 4 part series: He Deliver’s Hope.

"(16) For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: (17) Then we which are alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord." (1Th 4:16-17 KJV)
4. He Deliver's Hope 1.3 | Charged | Duties of the Older & Younger.
"(13) Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;" (Tit 2:13 KJV)
Conclusion:
God spoke Creation into existence in the Genesis account. Jesus spoke the dead & dying back to life. Jesus was empowered to speak miracles of heaven into physical substance. Miracles that are tangible. In the Creation account God Said, let us make man in our image. These facts. Facts! Qualify Jesus to be our Deity, Fully God who was fully man. We are man as in mankind and us, we too can have empowerment to make manifest “signs & wonders”.
Exhortation:
When Jesus was still some distance away, the man saw him, ran to meet him, and bowed low before him. ~Mark 5:6 (NLT)
Jesus can see us at a distance. He sees past the onion layers of bonds right to the heart of the matter.
Do you accept and believe this? Child of God.
"(1) See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don't recognize that we are God's children because they don't know him. (2) Dear friends, we are already God's children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is. (3) And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as he is pure." (1Jo 3:1-3 NLT).
Jesus said “They will do even greater things, [in my name].
"(12) "I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. (13) You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. (14) Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!" (Jhn 14:12-14 NLT).
Jesus said “They will do even greater things, [in my name].
This is strength within us and/or His anointed touch within us. Inside out is the approach of our God. Remind you of the demon possessed man from Gadara. Again ..he bowed low before Him..A mustard seed of faith that can move mountains! Faith to move a mountain or in this case an army of evil that surrounded the man in bondage.
Jesus sees you. Do you see Him? Run to Him!
Prayer & song.

Benediction:
"Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Spirit" ~Apostle Paul Romans 15:13 (MEV)"(20) Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us," (Eph 3:20 NKJV) Allow the seed of faith to grow into a tree planted next to streams of water (Ps 1).
